Prolific CEOs helm their ship from the forefront. They embody the spirit of innovation and change. Simon Lajboschitz, the CEO and Co-founder of Khora epitomises these qualities. With an aim to expand the horizons of virtual reality, Simon Lajboschitz partnered with Peter Fisher to co-found Khora. As a leading Scandinavian Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality production studio, Khora is dedicated to the mission of exploring the possibilities of immersive technologies and their contributions toward the betterment of society.
Roots of the Company
After working as a Brand and Concept Leader in the retail industry for 7 years, Simon Lajboschitz decided to partner with Peter Fisher to create Khora. Peter Fisher was already working on virtual reality content in his spare time in Copenhagen when Lajboschitz partnered with him to conceptualise and inaugurate Khora.
Mesmerised by the virtual reality experience ever since a trip to a New York museum, Lajboschitz has been captivated by the magic of this technology. Virtual reality -with its ability to transport people to unknown dimensions- for him borders on a sense of magical realism.
The name of the company is reflective of its mission of curating the bridge between the physical and virtual worlds. As a Plutonian concept, Khora represents a place between the real and the non-real that wavers between the sensible and the intelligible- it signifies a space conducive for all imaginative musings.
Becoming a Successful CEO
A holistic approach to business is the key to success. A gifted CEO is one who can holistically evaluate and address the company’s needs, streamlining resources wherever most required.
When asked about the most important qualities of a successful and effective CEO, Simon Lajboschitz said, “I believe that it is important that a CEO is capable of jumping between macro and micro levels with ease. Being able to look at the organization from a bird’s eye view to make sure that the company is steering towards its vision while remaining true to its mission. And at the same time being able to cover small detail aspects of the business, which provide vital support to the daily operations.”

The Secret to a Happy Customer Base
A prolific CEO knows the best modalities to ensure a happy and loyal customer base. Khora’s CEO is no different. According to Simon Lajboschitz maintaining a close relationship with the customers is essential. Remaining cognisant of their issues and concerns is equally significant in the creation of a happy customer base. He further adds, “As a lot of our customers don’t really know the VR and AR world that well, we make sure to guide and educate them when we collaborate on a project. We do this to make them feel safe in the process.” Elevating their level of comfort with the collaborative project is equally crucial. This refined approach to monitoring customer care and satisfaction is truly noteworthy.
Counter Challenges through Creativity
Myriad challenges and obstacles lie on the path of greatness and success. Facing these obstacles with an inspired and ingenious approach is necessary. Advocating for a creative approach to counter challenges, Simon Lajboschitz emphasises upon the importance of fostering a strong resilient attitude that can creatively dismantle all prodigious obstacles.
He propounds, “We face obstacles all the time, both technical and ethical – but with our creative approach to obstacles we always find a solution. Where there is a will there’s a way.” This optimistic and innovative approach has enabled the company to achieve unprecedented success.
Making a Difference in the World
The drive to use this emerging technology to make a difference in the world guides Khora. The company has developed its own endeavour to ensure that the benefits of virtual reality are experienced by all. The Challenge Project has been developed by the company as a novel therapeutic endeavour to aid patients suffering from auditory hallucinations.
By incorporating voice modulation to a virtual simulation training programme in real-time, this project enabled the patients to develop certain novel skills and strategies to cope with auditory hallucinations. This path-breaking project will be significant in amplifying the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of the current course of treatments for auditory hallucinations.
Expanding Opportunities In the Midst of the Pandemic
Acknowledging the impact of the pandemic on the industry Khora’s CEO, Simon Lajboschitz propounded that there will be an evident increase in the demand for virtual reality services. Khora is already providing companies with collaborative AR and VR solutions through meaningful partnerships. This demand for expert guidance in the effective utilisation of these techniques is set to further expand. The company now braces itself for the imminent virtual boom.
