Liverpool Near Premier League Glory as Arsenal Slip at Everton

by admin

Liverpool edge closer to the Premier League title as Arsenal’s draw at Everton dents their chances. The Gunners, aiming for their first title in 21 years, now trail Liverpool by 11 points. Liverpool still have a game in hand and need just 11 points from eight games.

Despite an early goal from Leandro Trossard, Arsenal couldn’t secure a win. Iliman Ndiaye equalised with a second-half penalty, keeping Everton strong at home. Arsenal, once again, failed to convert dominance into a result. Their title dreams look more distant than ever.

Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment after the 1-1 draw. He admitted Arsenal lacked intensity at the start of the second half. His team struggled against Everton’s physical and direct style. The result came just days before their Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

Arteta’s lineup showed signs of rotation with key players benched. Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Martinelli all started on the bench. Arsenal also missed injured stars like Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. Still, they controlled much of the first half and created several chances.

Trossard finished calmly in the first half after a brilliant pass from Raheem Sterling. It was his first Premier League goal since January. However, Arsenal failed to build on the momentum. They lacked sharpness and attacking power in crucial moments.

Everton responded just seconds after the break. A controversial penalty was awarded after Myles Lewis-Skelly’s foul on Jack Harrison. After a long VAR check, Ndiaye scored with composure, sending David Raya the wrong way.

David Moyes praised his players for their resilience. He said his team’s efforts moved them closer to safety. With the draw, Everton moved to 14th, now 15 points above the relegation zone. Moyes plans to visit the new stadium this week thanks to their strong position.

Arsenal had late chances to grab a winner. Odegaard and Mikel Merino missed two big opportunities in the final minutes. But their wasteful finishing cost them vital points again.

Everton’s gritty defence frustrated Arsenal till the end. Their only defeat in 11 league games remains the 1-0 loss to Liverpool. Yet, this draw did their rivals a huge favour.

Liverpool now stand just inches away from sealing their 20th top-flight crown.
