A new documentary on Lisa from Blackpink is officially in production. This powerful film will explore her solo career transformation beyond her K-Pop roots. Directed by Sue Kim, this project promises an intimate look at Lisa’s real life behind the global stardom.
Sony Music Vision recently announced the documentary during their first-ever content showcase in Los Angeles. The film is produced in collaboration with LLOUD CO, RCA Records, and Tremolo Productions. Viewers will follow Lisa over the course of one full year. The journey features her transition from a group performer to a solo global star.
Notably, the documentary includes Lisa’s debut album Alter Ego, which achieved great success. The album reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 and debuted at No. 1 in album sales. Furthermore, Lisa delivered a stellar solo performance at Coachella, showcasing her growth as an independent artist.
She also appeared in season three of the award-winning show The White Lotus. Her rising acting talent added another layer to her evolving career. Yet, she will also rejoin Blackpink on tour this summer, proving her dedication to her original fanbase.
The documentary gives fans rare access to Lisa’s personal and professional world. According to Kim, Lisa refers to herself as “a normal girl from Thailand.” Despite her superstar status, she stays humble and grounded. Kim emphasized that the goal was to capture Lisa off-stage — her sincere and relatable side.
Previously, Sue Kim earned acclaim for The Last of the Sea Women, winning the New York Women in Film and TV award. She also executive produced the docuseries K-Pop Idols, further proving her deep connection to the K-Pop world.
The production team includes Morgan Neville and Caitrin Rogers from Tremolo Productions. Additional producers are Courtney Crockett and Sue Kim for Salt Water Productions. The executive producers list features names from LLOUD CO, RCA Records, and Sony Music Vision.
During the event, Sony Music Vision teased more upcoming films. Highlights included an Oasis reunion concert film, a Barbra Streisand documentary, and an Elvis Presley concert film directed by Baz Luhrmann.
