The Indian Government Launches the ‘Study In India Portal’ toBoost Education in India

by admin

In a concerted effort to position India as a global epicentre of knowledge and learning, the Indian government inaugurated the Study Abroad in India (SAI) Portal on August 3rd. The joint inauguration was led by the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, and the Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, with the distinguished presence of ambassadors from more than ten nations.

Importance of the Portal

Dedicated to illuminating the educational landscape of Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), the Study Abroad in India Portal offers an exhaustive platform. The website not only showcases a spectrum of academic programs spanning undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral levels but also showcases distinctive courses from the Indian Knowledge System, encompassing disciplines such as Yoga, Ayurveda, and classical arts.

Going beyond mere information dissemination, the portal serves as a comprehensive guide detailing academic amenities, research provisions, and pertinent insights. Furthermore, prospective scholars are empowered with the option to apply to multiple institutes or courses tailored to their preferences, streamlining the application process. A noteworthy facet of the portal is its role as an integrated solution for student enrollment, coupled with facilitation for seamless visa application procedures.

Expanding India’s Educational Influence

Addressing the gathering, Dr. S. Jaishankar articulated, “This initiative not only beckons international students from across the globe but also extends India’s educational influence on a global scale.” He also underlined the positive impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, facilitating the entry of foreign universities into India and enabling the establishment of international campuses for eminent Indian institutions. The SAI portal’s launch is poised to enhance the global presence of international students in India, offering domestic students enriched connectivity to a globalised world and its expansive professional panorama.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasised that the portal is set to simplify the academic journey of students within India. “Guided by the principles of NEP, the SAI Portal signifies our resolve to make India a favoured education destination and to dissolve the traditional confines of academia, thus sculpting a prosperous tomorrow,” remarked the Minister.

The Study Abroad in India initiative strives to elevate India as the ultimate educational haven, delivering affordable, high-quality education that rivals global benchmarks. As such, the program is grounded in partnerships with educational institutions meeting specific criteria, including National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking within the top 100, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation scores of 3.01 or higher, and Institutes of National Importance (INI).

The launch event witnessed students hailing from diverse nations who are currently pursuing their education in India, including those from Thailand, Ethiopia, Russia, Japan, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, and Korea – presenting cultural souvenirs as tokens of respect to the dignitaries. This spectacle underscored the harmonious convergence of global cultures united by the pursuit of knowledge.
