Another year’s fashion’s biggest night Met Gala saw some extremely stunning outfits for the annual fundraiser with “The Garden of Time” theme inspired by a short story of the same name which was written by J.G. Ballard in 1962. It was heavily appreciated by fashion’s elite claiming that this is wide open to interpretation and onlookers who were able to work with many florals, pastel and vintage pieces.
The main objective of every year’s Met Gala held on the first Monday in May is a soirée to raise funds for the Costume Institute which is the museum’s collection of fashion objects. Every year this event displays appreciation to a designer, style or look.
This year’s museum exhibit which the stars will tour Monday evening, is named as Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion. But it is not about fairy tales or Disney princesses.
It has 250 items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection which includes some outfits which are not usually seen in public and are extremely fragile and need to be under glass. Curators attempted to engage all the senses including that of smell. They also collaborated with “smell artist” and there is also a garment that grows. It was also meant to pay tribute and honour the natural world.
Other than the red carpet looks which gain attraction from people worldwide, this event expects secrecy. Once the invitees walk their ways inside, they are strictly instructed to avoid using their cellphones and social media which makes it grander as the public does not get much of the glimpse of what actually happens among the A-listers who are invited.
The Met trustee, Anna Wintour for whom the part of the Institute was renamed, organised the whole shebang. And in 2024, she had invited some renowned list of co-chairs like Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth.
The non attendees have fun judging the fashion of all the Hollywood’s biggest celebs, and so can you by looking at some well appreciated outfits worn by these celebrities.
