Paris Fashion Week observed the start of bare-face beauty revolution. Whether she was attending The Row’s spring/summer 2024 show – where she accessorised her oversized pinstripe suiting with freshly-scrubbed skin – or sitting front row and bare-faced at Vivienne Westwood, her every appearance has been marked by her luminous, make-up free complexion.
Pamela’s choice is surprising to many, due to the standard (informal) rule of front row celebrities expected to cover their pores and marks with make-up for the dozens of flashbulbs of camera’s capturing their every look and move.
Pamela, who attends high-profile events decided to go make-up free and it was refreshing for all those who looked at her. Why? She was filled with the aura of confidence and all those around her could feel it.
Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis was so energised by Anderson’s “act of courage and rebellion” that she took to Instagram over the weekend to celebrate the act of going make-up free.
“THE NATURAL BEAUTY REVOLUTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!” she enthused. “In the middle of fashion week, with so many pressures and postures… this woman showed up and claimed her seat at the table with nothing on her face. I am so impressed and floored by this act…”
British Vogue magazine explains how Anderson and Curtis are in their fifties and sixties respectively, part of an age group that has seen a fickle industry finally sitting up and paying attention to them in recent years. While the entertainment business has been notorious for side-lining women in their fifties and older in the past, now the likes of Andie MacDowell, Helen Mirren, Demi Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker and the ’90s supers are in hot demand. Whether they’re embracing their silver hair, dancing on the red carpet at a film festival, or simply showing up for the cameras barefaced and entirely comfortable in their own skin, it’s a joy to behold.
