Canadian comedian and former talk show host Mike Bullard has passed away at the age of 67, his family confirmed to Global News. Bullard was found dead, with a suspected heart attack being the cause.
Bullard began his career in comedy performing live standup at clubs across Ontario, which paved the way for his transition to television.
He rose to fame in 1997 as the host of the late-night talk show *Open Mike With Mike Bullard* on CTV, a role he held until 2003. Following that, he moved to Global Television to host *The Mike Bullard Show,* which ran for 13 weeks.
After his television career came to an end, Mike Bullard shifted to radio, finding a new platform for his talents. Despite a few cancelled shows and a brief stint back on TV, he hit his stride as the host of *Beyond The Mic with Mike Bullard* on Toronto’s Newstalk 1010, where he remained from 2010 to 2016.
Bullard left Newstalk 1010 following charges of criminal harassment involving a former romantic partner. In 2018, he pleaded guilty to one count of harassing communication.
Throughout his career, Bullard was recognised with two Gemini Awards for *Open Mike With Mike Bullard.* In 2013, he was honoured with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his volunteer efforts. In 2022, Bullard travelled to Ukraine to assist humanitarian organisations following Russia’s invasion, demonstrating his continued commitment to helping others.
