Several MadeGood granola bar varieties have been recalled in Canada over potential metal contamination, according to Riverside Natural Foods.
The company issued a voluntary recall on Monday, citing the possible presence of small metal fragments in products manufactured between January and November 2024. The fragments, identified as flat brush bristles, could pose a safety risk if consumed.
In a statement on its Canadian website, the company noted, “While the risk is very small, we are recalling affected granola bars made during this period as a precaution. The source of the issue has been resolved, and regulatory authorities are aware of the recall.”
No injuries have been reported, but the company emphasised that the recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution.
The recalled products include:
- Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
- Mixed Berry Granola Bars
- Strawberry Granola Bars
- Cookies & Crème Granola Bars
- Chocolate Banana Granola Bars
- Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake Granola Bars
- Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble Granola Bars
- Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla Granola Bars
These items were distributed in Canada, the United States, and international markets. Customers can find specific product UPCs and best-before dates included in the recall on the company’s website.
Consumers are advised to return affected products to the retailer for a full refund. Riverside Natural Foods reassured customers that consuming these products poses minimal risk, stating, “Only seven complaints have been received out of hundreds of millions of bars sold, and no injuries have occurred.”
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has not yet issued a recall notice.
