India is set to host the highly anticipated Pacific Asia Travel Association Travel Mart’s 46th edition. The PATA Travel Mart is set to debut at the sprawling Pragati Maidan, Delhi and will remain active from October 4th to 6th, marking a triumphant return of this international tourism event after a three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Details on the Travel Mart
The PATA Travel Mart 2023 will unfold its grandeur at the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC), the same venue that recently played host to the prestigious G20 Summit, held on September 9th and 10th. Founded in 1951 and headquartered in Bangkok, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has gained global recognition for its pivotal role in fostering responsible tourism and travel development across the Asia-Pacific region.
This eagerly awaited Delhi event will bring together an eclectic gathering of international tourism professionals and business stakeholders, providing a unique platform for networking, learning, and collaboration. India is poised to make an impressive mark at the mart, with a dedicated pavilion that will showcase a wide array of both well-known and lesser-known destinations.
Different Indian states and ministries, including Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh, will also proudly present their products and offerings at the event. Despite being a B2B mart, the PATA Travel Mart will shine a spotlight on diverse thematic products, including wellness, culinary delights, adventure, heritage as well as art and craft, captivating a global audience with India’s rich cultural tapestry.
Why Is The Event Important?
The event is not only a platform for networking but also a significant arena for trade interactions between global buyers and sellers, primarily from the Asia-Pacific region. Several engaging activities are on the itinerary for this year’s event, including the prestigious PATA Gold Award, the PATA Youth Symposium, the PATA Forum on Sustainability, and the B2B Mart.
India’s success in hosting the recent G20 Summit has given the country a favourable position as an attractive destination for international events and conferences, at a large-scale. This is further reinforced by India’s dedication to sustainable and inclusive tourism initiatives, making it increasingly sought-after for organising MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events.
The G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, released during the Summit, emphasised the pivotal role of tourism and culture in achieving sustainable socio-economic development and economic prosperity. The declaration also recognised the Goa Roadmap for Tourism as a means to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
